The Grower Behind the Bag
Built in the Elk Mountains.
I started growing after a traumatic brain injury. Mushrooms gave me something to focus on, something that responded to patience and precision. I got obsessive about substrate. Tested every ratio, every ingredient, every sterilization method.
The formula that won first place at the '24 Denver Psychedelic Cup is the same one in every bag we ship. Nothing changes between what I use and what you get.

What's Inside
Six ingredients. Zero guesswork.
The Payoff
What happens when all six ingredients work together.
Substrate Mix
The bulk growing medium where mycelium colonizes and fruits emerge. Our HB4 blend ships hydrated and ready to use.
Grain Spawn
The colonized grain that carries mycelium into the substrate. We blend two grains 50/50 for a reason.
Common Questions
Frequently asked questions
What species can I grow with this substrate?
Any species that thrives on enriched, dung-loving substrates. Our worm casting blend provides the nutrient profile for dense, healthy flushes across a wide range of varieties. Works for gourmet and medicinal species too.
How long does colonization take?
Typically 3-6 weeks depending on species and temperature. Keep the bag at 72-78F in a dark spot. You'll see white mycelium spreading through the grain first, then into the substrate.
What if my bag gets contaminated?
If your bag arrives contaminated or fails to colonize due to a manufacturing defect, we replace it at no cost. Email us with your order number and a photo, and we'll get a new bag shipped within 48 hours. Read our full contamination guarantee.
Do I need any equipment to get started?
For the All-in-One Bag, just a spore syringe or liquid culture. No pressure cooker, no still air box, no laminar flow hood. Inject through the port and you're done. For HB4, you'll need colonized grain spawn to mix in. For Multi Grain, you'll need a spore syringe or liquid culture to inoculate the grain. All three products ship sterile and ready to go.
How many flushes can I expect?
With an All-in-One Bag, most growers pull 3-5 flushes. HB4 blocks can produce even more with the higher substrate volume. Each flush produces dense, vigorous fruit bodies. Rehydrate the cake between flushes and keep humidity up for the best results.
What temperature does my grow space need to be?
72-78F during colonization, 60-75F during fruiting. A closet shelf or spare room works. No climate-controlled setup needed. If you're comfortable in the room, your mycelium probably is too.
What makes your substrate different?
We use worm castings instead of manure. Same slow-release nutrients, zero smell, lower contamination risk. The formula won 1st Place at the Denver Grower Cup and Gold Medal at the Psychedelic Cup. Every bag ships with the same blend we compete with.
Which product should I pick?
All-in-One Bags if you're starting out or want zero extra equipment. Just add spores and fruit in the bag. HB4 Substrate if you already have colonized grain and want to scale into tubs. Multi Grain Matrix if you want sterile grain spawn ready to inoculate for your own setup.
How long do the bags last before I use them?
Substrate bags have a 6-month shelf life. Grain spawn ships sterile and should be inoculated within a few weeks for best results. Store everything at room temperature in a clean, dry spot until you're ready.
